Rin Rios (they/them) lights up our lobby every Monday afternoon with their bubbly sense of humor and warm smile. They started volunteering at The Center about two months ago after they moved to Denver from Indiana. Rin moved with the hope of finding a more LGBTQ+ inclusive environment, and they’ve built much of their community at The Center.

They feel lucky to get to work on one of their passions: cheese. While working as a cheese stocker at Whole Foods, Rin has discovered new flavors and textures of cheese. And when they’re not at The Center or Whole Foods, Rin enjoys hiking and spending time outdoors, shooting on film cameras, and spending time with their wife, Bri. Colorado’s mountains, deserts, and lakes fill Rin’s heart and much of their spare time.

“I’m also a huge nerd,” Rin said. They love Star Wars and have several tattoos related to the series.

Savannah Maldonado, Volunteer Manager, appreciates Rin’s giggles and playful sass.

“They are so incredibly thoughtful and compassionate,” said Savannah.

We love our volunteers. And our nerds.
