Why Volunteer

Last year, more than 950 dedicated people from all walks of life helped The Center on Colfax fulfill our mission by donating over 18,000 hours of their time. From greeting visitors at the front desk to facilitating support groups to helping us grow Denver PrideFest into the third largest pride celebration in the country, The Center on Colfax's volunteers make a real difference in our community.

Steps to Becoming a Volunteer at The Center
  1. Fill out a volunteer application: Decide whether you wish to volunteer at The Center on Colfax or with Denver Pride and fill out the appropriate application.
  2. Attend a volunteer orientation: After filling out the online application, you will receive a confirmation email with information on the upcoming volunteer orientation dates/times.
  3. Connect with a staff member and start volunteering: After completing orientation, you will receive an email with available volunteer opportunities and instructions on how to connect with a staff member to start volunteering at The Center on Colfax.

Please Note: Individuals interested in volunteering at Denver PrideFest need to apply through the Denver Pride website.

Denver PrideFest - Multiple Positions

We need 400+ volunteers with a variety of skills to host Denver PrideFest. Free shirt, anyone?

Fundraising Event Assistant

Use your quick wit and good judgement to positively interact with the public at an event

Friendly Visitor

Offer social support for older LGBTQ adults who reside in a care center or assisted living community

Front Desk Greeter

Answer phones, provide resources and give a warm welcome to all of The Center's visitors

Outreach Team Member

Provide information and positive engagement with the public at tabling events and resource fairs

Phone-A-Friend Caller

Promote social connectivity by having a friendly phone conversation with an older adult each week

Still Cooking Instructor

Teach cooking skills and nutritional information to older adults attending the Still Cooking class series

Transgender Support Group Facilitator

Provide a safe and affirming place for individuals across the gender spectrum to meet and talk

SAGE of the Rockies Administrator

Use your administrative skills to help support the SAGE Friendly Visitor and Phone-A-Friend programs
