Lunch & Learn: Understanding the Roots and Realities of Environmental Justice

Loading Events

Have you ever wondered what’s in the air we breathe and the water we drink, or why some communities face more pollution than others? In the first session of our three-part lunch-and-learn series, we’ll explore the roots of environmental justice, what it means in everyday life, and how it connects to climate change. The environment surrounds us, from air and water quality to the resources and opportunities available in different communities. Together, we’ll explore environmental issues here in Colorado, including air quality after nearby wildfires, types of pollution and their effects, and why some folks and communities are more vulnerable to environmental hazards. We’ll wrap up our session by discussing practical ways to reduce exposure and how we can take action in our lives and communities.

Date/Time: Friday November 20th 12-1:30pm

Environmental Justice Series:
Explore environmental justice through the perspectives of social work, local community organizations, and the environmental issues shaping Colorado. From water access and natural resources to the connections between nature, public health, and policy, each session offers a different look at how our environment affects our lives and communities. Along the way, we will learn from folks currently working to build healthier communities and explore ways to get involved in environmental justice and help create positive change.
