Push'n Pansies
Death is not a topic that many like to discuss. But the end of the rainbow is inevitable. Push'n Pansies is a brave space for individuals to come together and discuss the end of life, learn about resources, and discover the strength to normalize aging and death.
Our July workshop will cover the topic of HIV-Associated Neurocognitive Disorder (HAND). Thanks to improvements in HIV treatment, people living with HIV are living longer than ever before. In fact, almost 50% of people living with HIV in the US are now 50 and older with a life expectancy nearing their peers without HIV. However, aging with HIV is not without its challenges, including a much higher risk for cognitive decline.
This presentation will discuss why approximately 50% of people living with HIV will experience some form of cognitive decline and focus on the main cause of this decline, HIV-Associated Neurocognitive Disorder (HAND). Topics covered include the signs and risk factors for HAND, similarities and differences between HAND and Alzheimer's disease, and why accurately diagnosing cognitive change in people living with HIV is so important.
This workshop will be held in a hybrid format. If you would like to attend virtually, please complete the registration form below to recieve the Zoom link.
