Ethan Wilson walked through The Center’s doors to attend his first young-adult program two months ago. Wilson is introverted and was hesitant to join a group of strangers.

But he was immediately greeted with smiles and warm gestures as he joined a group of LGBTQ+ young adults at our young-adult drop-in hours, which are every Tuesday from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. at The Center.

“I like that I don’t feel pressured to speak to people, so I can get to know people on my terms,” Ethan said.

Ethan also met his partner at a painting and pottery night through our young adult program. Ethan admired their painting and struck up a conversation after the event. Two months later, Ethan and his partner are going strong.

Outside of The Center, Ethan enjoys drawing, painting, and embroidery. He’s a regular participant at young adult drop-in hours because he appreciates building community with others around his age with shared identities.

“I would definitely tell people considering coming that it’s very approachable and a great way to meet people in a low-stress environment,” Ethan encouraged.

Those between 18 and 25 years old are welcome at our young adult drop-in hours. We often host art nights or other structured events, and drop-in hours include options for games, snacks, and connection.
