Salvaggio brings a lifelong commitment to LGBTQIA+ advocacy and community-centered leadership to The Center on Colfax

The Center on Colfax (The Center) is thrilled to announce that Kim Salvaggio has been named its new Chief Executive Officer. Salvaggio will officially step into the role on May 27, 2025, bringing a dynamic blend of community leadership, passion for equity, and deep-rooted commitment to LGBTQ+ advocacy to the organization.

"I am honored to step into the role of CEO at The Center on Colfax. The Center’s rich history is not just a testament to our progress but a powerful reminder of the work still to be done,” said Salvaggio. "Together, we will build on this legacy, fostering a future where everyone is empowered, valued, connected, and inspired."

Following a national search, Salvaggio was selected by The Center’s Board of Directors based on the recommendation of an executive search committee. The committee was led by Board Co-Chair Kyle Long (Board Co-Chair) and Linda Boedeker (LB Group Inc.), and included Board Co-Chair Amalia Sax-Bolder; current staff members Natalie Zanoni (interim CEO), Sandra Zapata (Director of Youth Services), and Bryant Mehay (Manager of Elder Services); as well as Nadine Bridges (Executive Director of One Colorado and former staff at The Center) and Carlos Martinez (President and CEO of the Latino Community Foundation of Colorado and former Executive Director at The Center).

"I am very proud of the intentional and strategic search we held to select The Center’s next leader,” said Long. "As The Center on Colfax continues its mission to engage, enrich, and advance Colorado’s LGBTQ+ community, we are excited to have Kim lead the organization into our next chapter.”

A champion for inclusion and belonging, Salvaggio has spent more than two decades advancing access, trust, and community connection across the media and nonprofit sectors. Most recently, she served as Chief Community Equity and Access Officer at Rocky Mountain Public Media, where she led groundbreaking initiatives like Above the Noise — a statewide listening and civility project that strengthened the relationship between Colorado communities and their local newsrooms.

“Kim brings a powerful combination of strategic vision, lived experience, and community-centered leadership,” said Sax-Bolder. Her deep commitment to equity and her ability to build trust across diverse communities make her the right leader for this moment in The Center’s evolution.”

Known for her energy, compassion, and ability to bring people together, Salvaggio is also a certified mediator and facilitator, helping communities navigate challenging conversations and build lasting understanding. Her work consistently centers LGBTQIA+ communities, with a special focus on uplifting and protecting Trans Youth.

Salvaggio lives in Erie, Colorado, with her wife Alex, their four children, and a lively household of beloved pets. She continues to collaborate with local leaders and organizations on projects that champion relational trust, cultural responsiveness, and inclusive storytelling.
