A message from our CEO, Rex Fuller
I see 2023 as the year The Center on Colfax really bloomed again following the pandemic. The growth we experienced the year before was inspiring, but community listening and new programs we launched in response during 2023 was thrilling.
Glass Lawler Mental Health was established to meet the resounding need for LGBTQ+ culturally relevance and support in the mental health space. The program launched in September 2023 and offers 12 complimentary individual counseling sessions to each participant in addition to a growing number of support groups tackling different life challenges and traumas.
Our other new initiative, Saga, which launched in 2022, grew into itself during 2023 serving 490 young adults in its first full year. Saga also began to hold regular drop-in sessions which focused on work force development, food security, obtaining housing, accessing medical care and benefits, and building community.
Altogether, our programs reached approximately 11,000 people and stewarded and developed 256 collaborations and partnerships (this does not include Pridefest or social media) -- a 183% increase in individuals served in 2023 over 2022
It is thrilling to see the energy and enthusiasm that our staff and community bring to The Center every day. I am constantly inspired by the creativity of our community who are finding new and ingenious ways to address our community’s needs. And I’m grateful to the many individuals, foundations and companies who so generously support our work.
Thanks to you, The Center on Colfax continues to grow as we work to fulfill our mission to engage, enrich, empower and advance the LGBTQ+ community of Colorado.
With gratitude,
Rex Fuller, CEO
