2021 marked RANGE Consulting’s 5-year anniversary as a program of The Center on Colfax. Since its launch in 2016, RANGE has been providing LGBTQ+, culturally-affirming training and consulting services to business, nonprofit, government, and community organizations across Colorado and beyond. RANGE continued to expand its service offerings and adapt to meet the everchanging needs of its clientele.
Like so many other organizations, RANGE had to adapt its service delivery to adhere with COVID-19 health requirements. The biggest change was the delivery of training and consulting services from an in-person to virtual model. Anticipating this migration to virtual engagement, The Center invested in purchasing Zoom licensing. As a result, RANGE was able to host virtual trainings and meetings for all its clients.
In an effort to remain competitive, RANGE developed and rolled out several comprehensive train-the-trainer projects for some of its clients. These projects are ideal for larger organizations with their own training departments and/or ERG (employee resource group) staff that lack the expertise, curriculum, or materials to deliver LGBTQ+, culturally-affirming training to their employees. The projects generate higher revenues, typically range between 3, 6, or 12-month engagements, and combine the delivery of training and consulting services.
RANGE had a few notable accomplishments in 2021 that included:
• Conducting multiple regional trainings for an international fast-food restaurant chain
• Delivering consulting services to a large national retail clothing and accessory company for the development of a virtual LGBTQ+ training for their retail store employees
• Hosting virtual trainings for two international companies
In addition to providing external training and consulting services to clients, RANGE also conducted internal trainings for community members. This included co-hosting an 8-week racial equity series with DEI (diversity, equity, and inclusion) consultant Deborah Burgess, as well as conducting multiple community trainings about LGBTQ+ Basics. RANGE has also been working with leadership to support the organization’s implementation of its strategic plan.
As RANGE heads into 2022, the program has begun securing several projects and intends to continue expanding the portfolio of service offerings for its clients, as well as supporting The Center in its advancement of DEI initiatives.
