Celebrating Disability Pride Month
The Center is so excited to host our second annual Disability Pride Month Celebration on Saturday, July 27, 2024! About the Presentations

Disability and Body Confidence, presented by Broken Babes Burlesque

Find out how burlesque changed the perspective of performer Allie Soreass (zie/zir) and how zie created a safe space for other performers with accessibility needs. This workshop will include practice with feather boas & learning about ways to make removing clothing accessible as well as sexy.
Sex Toys for Chronic Pain / Disability, presented by Sexploratorium
2:00 - 3:00 PM, Rainbow Alley (Basement Level)
In this inclusive and informative class focused on pleasure-enhancing devices, participants explore a wide range of options tailored to individuals with varying physical abilities, ensuring accessibility and inclusivity for all. The course is designed to cater to the diverse needs and preferences of participants, addressing both traditional sex toys and accessible options that can enhance pleasure and intimacy regardless of physical ability.
Through interactive discussions, demonstrations, and expert guidance, attendees gain insights into the features, functionalities, and benefits of different sex toys suitable for all sexual orientations and gender identities. The class emphasizes the importance of inclusivity and respect, creating a supportive environment where individuals can explore and embrace their desires without judgment.
By the end of the course, participants emerge with a deeper understanding of pleasure-enhancing devices and how they can enhance intimacy and pleasure in diverse relationships. Whether exploring traditional sex toys or accessible options, attendees leave empowered with knowledge and confidence to incorporate these tools into their sexual experiences in a way that is fulfilling, enjoyable, and inclusive for all.

About the Art Installation

Art connects the community, reduces stress, and improves brain function. That is why we focus so much on the arts through our programming. We are excited about this year's interactive art installation: What Does Disability Pride Mean to You? Let's come together and build a community mobile that illustrates our unique attributes. Using magic scratch-off paper, participants can create shapes, write stories, or whatever they like to tell the community what disability pride means to them. Participants will have the opportunity to design an ornament and hang it on the mobile throughout the Disability Pride Celebration.
Accessibility Information
ASL Interpreters will be available throughout the event. Each presentation will have an interpreter, the resource fair and speed friending activations will have an interpreter available by request, and some organizations in the resource fair will be bringing their own interpreter as well.
We do have a parking lot that will be available on a first come first serve basis - it will be as cleared as possible for the event. There is a lot of neighborhood, street, and paid lot parking located around The Center. Please consider not using our parking lot if you do not need the physical accessibility. Do NOT park in the Adam & Eve lot to the east of The Center - they will tow your car!

We are ensuring we have a wide range of options to choose from, including Gluten-Free, Vegan, Sugar-Free, etc. Coffee will be provided by DIRT Coffee. Food will also be spread throughout the event, rather than being located at one place.
