The Center has been producing Denver PrideFest for members of Colorado’s LGBTQ community for 43 years, and during that time we’ve seen a lot of changes. Over the years, The Center has become a hub for our community. We’ve worked hard to serve our neighbors and help bring stability to our neighborhood.

As a community center, we care about the safety and well-being of our entire LGBTQ family. Every single one of us should be able to feel safe in our own neighborhoods. We should all feel safe leaving PrideFest.

Unfortunately, we know that bullying and hate crimes are increasing, and we can often be the targets of harassment or intimidation. This weekend, as we celebrate and honor our incredible community, we encourage everyone to please be aware of your surroundings.

Let’s all look out for each other. Let’s support each other. Because we are all in this together. We are all safer when we treat each other with respect.

Here are some general safety tips to keep in mind when out celebrating Denver PrideFest this weekend:

  • Always be alert and aware of your surroundings.
  • Try to avoid walking alone at night. Walk with another person or a group when possible. If you must walk alone, use well-lighted sidewalks and take the most direct route.
  • If you see something, say something. Report any suspicious activity or abandoned large personal items (like bags or boxes) to the police.
  • Trust your instincts! You are your best protection.

Our festival rules are designed to keep everyone safe. Please take a moment to familiarize yourself with the festival rules before attending Denver PrideFest.
