The Center on Colfax applauds today’s ruling from the United States Supreme Court affirming that no person should be fired from their job because of their gender or sexual identity. This landmark decision is a major victory for LGBTQ civil rights, and we are hopeful that it will be an important step toward full equality. However, as we celebrate today’s opinion, we must remain vigilant in the face of the open hostility the Trump administration consistently demonstrates toward Transgender Americans and people of color.

As we join with our community in celebration of today’s momentous decision, we must pause to remember that many of us still suffer under the weight of systemic racism. In the words of Black transgender activist, Marsha P. Johnson, there is "No Pride For Some of Us Without Liberation For All of Us."

The Center on Colfax is available to all members of our community in search of resources. Though our doors  are physically closed to the public because of the ongoing pandemic, many of our support and social groups have gone online, and we have compiled a list of other resources to help serve our community during the pandemic. Learn more here.
