Hello Friends,

For the past seven years, I have been fortunate enough to call The Center on Colfax my second home, and its staff and community members my extended family. To say that I am proud of the work I’ve done as Director of Elder Services and through our SAGE of the Rockies program is an understatement. It is with that in mind that I am emotional to share with you that, on Friday, March 19, I will be moving on from my position at The Center on Colfax.

In the seven years since I was hired by The Center, I have worked with my colleagues to achieve milestones like creating partnerships to provide educational learning workshops, the Elder of Pride Award and rooftop summer event, and the Annual Día de los Muertos/Day of the Dead celebration. In 2014, I helped in hiring our first Coordinator of Elder Services to ensure we were able to give our ever-growing community the assistance they needed. I was also pleased to mentor many interns over the years, who took so much of what they learned from our LGBTQ+ elders to make Colorado and the world a better place.

Over the next few weeks, I’ll be working hard with the leadership team at The Center for a smooth transition. While I will no longer be interacting with each of you daily, I will still be living in Denver and will make myself available to my successor as needed. While I cannot share the specifics of my next chapter with you all yet, I am confident that I will still be a regular and continued familiar face to many of our community members!

Also, while I hope we can celebrate our achievements once Covid-19 is under control, I urge you to support The Center on Colfax with a gift in my honor in the meantime. SAGE of the Rockies has a lot of work to do and is only made possible with your continued support.

Thank you for all that you have given to me over the years. I take these lessons knowing that I can make a difference because the people I have worked with continue to make a difference.
All my love,

Reynaldo Mireles, Jr.
