The COVID-19 Pandemic put a pause on in-person programming prior to the reopening of the Center on July 7, 2021. The summer and fall of 2021 brought many collaborations for the history project. On November 1, the history project presented a lecture entitled “Queering the Americas” with Marjorie Levine-Clark, which focused on gender diverse peoples in pre-Columbian societies. This lecture was the first of its kind at CU Denver, and was part of the work of the Matt Kailey History Committee (MKHC). The project also conducted more detailed oral histories with Julia Condolora and Craig Dietz. The Boulder LGBTQ History Committee continued to work with Dr. Glenda Russell, at historian in the Boulder LGBTQ community. Finally, The project also finished work on the story of Jiro Onuma, a gay Japanese man who lived in Colorado from about 1945 - 1947.
