My therapy practice is virtual/tele-health.

I’m Janelle Peters, a queer person, performer, and licensed social worker (LSW) in Colorado. I have been working in the mental health field since 2013. I completed my MSW degree in 2016 at the University of Southern California. I am commited to working collaboratively with my clients to build individual wellbeing, while recognizing the importance of addressing the systemic issues that impact us.

My therapeutic style is collaborative, and grounded in my values of anti-oppression, social justice, and liberation. I draw on my education, training, and experience in multiple fields and interdisciplinary settings to support each client based on their needs and goals. I employ several lenses in work with clients. Some of the most frequent are Systems, Anti-Oppressive, and Feminist/Queer. I use somatic and cognitive tools with clients, and practice in a relational/psychodynamic manner - which is to say that our therapeutic relationship is one of the main factors in my clients’ progress. I’m always happy to answer questions about how I work, and my therapeutic approach.

In individual therapy I am most effective with clients experiencing anxiety, trauma, self-harm, major life changes, LGBTQIA2S+ needs, difficulty with healthy boundaries, difficulty with self-esteem, stress, eating disorders, issues particular to professional dancers, athletes, artists, sex workers, and performers.

I offer couples/relationship therapy as well, with a specific focus on supporting clients as their relationships shift or change. This is especially useful for relationships where folks are deepening their commitment, or exploring changing their relationship structure.

I also offer Caregiver Coaching for the parents and/or caregivers of LGBTQIA2S+ youth or young adults. This coaching practice provides a brave space for caregivers to process their own relationship with gender and sexuality. I provide vocabulary, tools, and opportunities for reflection to support caregivers in being the adult their young person needs.

My office is currently fully virtual. Sessions are available to any resident of Colorado. Please note you must have privacy (video and audio) as well as a strong internet connection for sessions.

Individual therapy with me costs $160/session. Each session is 55 minutes long.
Couples/Relationship therapy costs $245/session. Each session is 75 minutes long.
Caregiver Coaching costs $200/session. Each session is 55 minutes long.
