SUMMARY:Parting Gift: Fitting in America by Leonard Suryajaya
DESCRIPTION:The Colorado Photographic Arts Center (CPAC) presents a solo exhibition featuring nationally acclaimed photographer Leonard Suryajaya\, and the debut of his newest body of work\, Parting Gift: Fitting in America. \nKnown for his vibrant\, elaborately staged portraits—featured in Aperture magazine and exhibited internationally—Suryajaya has quickly become a standout voice in contemporary photography. Living in the U.S. while his family remains in Indonesia\, he uses photography to explore distance\, belonging\, and who is allowed to be seen as family in America today. The result is a series of bold\, emotionally charged images that are playful\, layered\, and deeply human\, inviting viewers into scenes where intimacy\, identity\, and national myths collide. \nOpening Reception: Friday\, February 27 (5 - 8 pm) \nArtist Talk: Saturday\, February 28 (1 pm)\nAll events are free and open to the public\nGallery hours: Tuesday – Friday: 11am – 5pm\, Saturday: Noon – 4pm \nPresented alongside An Impossibly Normal Life by Matthew Finley.\n\nPhoto credit: Alien aunties\, ©Leonard Suryajaya\, courtesy of CPAC

SUMMARY:Motus Theater & Denver District 7 Present: Motus Playback: Loving Our Immigrant Neighbors
DESCRIPTION:In honor of Colorado’s 150th Anniversary\, Motus Theater & Denver District 7 present an interactive Playback Theater performance focused on Loving our Immigrant Neighbors. Audience members are invited to share personal stories of connection\, solidarity\, and belonging\, which are then improvised live on stage by the Motus Playback Ensemble. Co-hosted by Denver City Councilwoman Flor Alvidrez\, this event creates space for transformative listening and civic dialogue at a time when immigrant communities face harmful rhetoric and policies. Come witness how shared stories can move us forward together. \nThis performance is free\, but registration is required.

SUMMARY:Pursuit Of Happiness: Warding of Freedoms of America
DESCRIPTION:Two hundred fifty years of America\, and we’re still here—thriving\, being fabulous\, refusing to disappear. The Denver Gay Men’s Chorus presents The Pursuit of Happiness\, a celebration of the LGBTQIA+ trailblazers who’ve shaped this nation’s culture and conscience across centuries. This concert centers the voices that need to be heard most urgently—people of color\, trans and nonbinary individuals\, immigrants\, and women navigating multiple marginalized identities within our community. We pay tribute to the LGBTQIA+ legends we’ve lost and pick up the work they began. Expect an electrifying night of music that will move you—from powerful anthems to moments of pure joy and reflection. You’ll leave inspired to stand up\, to join the fight\, and to claim your own pursuit of happiness. This is our story\, and we’re singing it loud.

When she's not behind the chair\, she spends her time cycling around Ccapitol Hill or playing/watching baseball! Her goal as your barber is to learn and grow with your hair. If you leave smiling\, so does she. The Outlaw Barber is the name. Affirming haircuts is my game.  \nRosé Curley \nRosé Curley is the founder and owner of Curls\, Kinks & Coils and has been working with nothing but textured hair since they finished school in 2017. As a queer\, polyam\, non-binary person\, Rosé strives to break barriers for BIPOC\, LGBTQIA+\, and all people who have been ostracized by society. \nIan Duvall \nTwo years ago\, Ian followed a passion that had been brewing for a lifetime and earned his Barber License. Since then\, he's brought an infectious energy to the chair every single day. Starting his journey as a Master Barber in Tennessee\, Ian's craft has taken him through North Carolina and finally to his current home here in Denver\, Colorado.\nFor Ian\, hair isn't just a service—it's an art form. Growing up immersed in music and creative arts\, he views every client as a rockstar preparing to take the stage. Whether you are looking for:\n• Flowing Length: Expertly shaped long styles and natural movement.\n• Retro Revival: Bold\, vintage looks like Shags and Mullets.\n• Modern Precision: Sharp\, stylish fades executed with class. \nIan is currently behind the chair at Barber X barbershop in RiNo\, located at 3320 Brighton Blvd.\nBarber X is a queer-owned barbershop that welcomes all genders.\nReach out to jiwancio@lgbtqcolorado.org for more information.

DESCRIPTION:Motus Theater presents What Love Requires\, a powerful autobiographical monologue project featuring stories from parents of transgender and nonbinary adults. \nFor this special March 28 performance ahead of Transgender Day of Visibility\, we will present three of the eight monologues in the full project\, offering an intimate glimpse into parents’ journeys of love\, reckoning\, and growth as they support their children (now adults) to step into their authentic selves. \nThese stories honor what it means not only to help our children survive\, but to thrive…and how\, in truly seeing them\, parents are also transformed.

SUMMARY:Reclaimed Love. Reclaimed History.
DESCRIPTION:Reclaimed Love. Reclaimed History.\nStorytelling is resistance. Art is healing. Together\, we reclaim both love and history while resisting erasure by telling stories. Join us for an evening of remembrance\, joy\, and rededication honoring the history and culture of sapphic identities in Colorado. This gathering brings together art\, storytelling\, and community to reclaim histories that have too often been erased. The program will highlight an iconic work of art connected to the historic Three Sisters bar\, alongside a love poem inspired by the artwork itself. We will reflect on the history of the bar within Colorado’s lesbian cultural legacy. \nA special thank you ceremony will honor the Archiving Committee\, artist D.D. LaRue Reich\, and Julia Bonde\, whose care and craft helped restore and frame this artifact\, ensuring this beloved piece was preserved and can inspire future generations. The evening will also include a presentation on the history of women loving women in Colorado and an exhibit at The Pearl from 8:00 - 9:30 p.m. Help us fundraise\, including an auction featuring copies of Lesbians in Colorado and other meaningful artifacts. This event serves as both a rededication of lesbian culture and a fundraiser benefiting The Center.
