SUMMARY:Woven Intersections by Teague McDaniel\, EVENT 1: “Hello olleH” Opening Performance
DESCRIPTION:June 28 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm\n$5 – $15 \n\n\n\n\n\nWe hope you’ll join us for one or more creative activations at Woven Intersections. This exhibition features Ascend\, a site-specific rope\, wood\, and concrete sculptural installation by Teague McDaniel (they/them). Each event in this series is a unique site activation that engages with our ability to feel\, perceive\, or experience things subjectively—especially as it pertains to our geographic location in this moment in time. \nTickets are available on Eventbrite or at the door. Find out about all of our events at Noboartdistrict.org/visit/bus-stop-gallery/ \nEVENT 1:Hello olleH Welcome to our kick-off event for Woven Intersections. This evening of sound and performance art explores leaning into the “now\,” dipping into the past with cassette recorders to imagine the future\, and navigating the surreal and ethereal aspects of existence. Featured artists include Celi Torres\, Erik Wangsvick\, Teague McDaniel\, Bearcat\, and the reveal of a curated pop-up shop featuring local talent. \nOUR SPONSOR: Thank you to MSU Denver for sponsoring this event. If you’d like to help support our production\, please contact: creative.integration.art@gmail.com \nABOUT ERIK: Seeing Radiant Futures (look forward…rewind\, respond) by Erik Wangsvick (he/they) is an interactive sound piece—appearing in multiple iterations over the course of the exhibition—that encourages its audience to think\, to listen\, and to share\, so that we may vivify the radiant futures we are working toward. Allow time and space for hope to cultivate\, become actionable\, and even serve as an act of resistance by sharing the brightness of your imagined futures. \nErik Wangsvick is an interdisciplinary artist\, craftsman\, and musician currently based in Denver\, CO. Taking inspiration from everyday life\, he engages with elements of chance\, experimentation\, and observation to create artworks that uncover magic in the mundane and question the norm. Wangsvick has exhibited and performed sound art widely across the U.S. His discography includes 32 full-length and EP releases. Wangsvick earned an MFA with distinction from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn\, NY (2019)\, and a BFA with a double concentration in Sculpture and Painting\, along with a minor in Art History\, from Colorado State University (2011). \nABOUT CELI: Knots” by Celi Torres\n\nKnots are the fabric of the universe. through touch\, through information. In this improvisational piece Celi considers how knots exist in the body and around it. Torres work explores themes including invisible labor\, repetition\, and codices. \n\nCeli Torres (they/them) explores performance and relational art\, using movement\, conversation\, and the archive as a muse. A long time art administrator and current arts librarian\, Celi’s is a\nnew emerging artist.\n\nABOUT ELLE: In their first collaboration\, artists Elle Hong and Teague McDaniel move in response to one another\, the audience\, and “Ascend”\, a site-specific rope installation. Inspiration for this performance is informed by their shared passion of dance and the performance strategies “space” and “shape” as defined in the “Six Viewpoints” method developed by Mary Overlie.\n\nABOUT TEAGUE: Teague McDaniel (they/he) is an interdisciplinary artist and curator who grew up in and is based in the Denver/Boulder. McDaniel’s current roles include acting as the Founder and Curator at Creative Integration Initiative (CII)\, adjunct professor in the Department of Art at MSU Denver\, and practicing artist. Their art practice is media agnostic and frequently traverses installation\, performance\, social practice\, and printmaking. They hold an MA in Art and BA  in Art.\n\nTICKETS: Tickets are based on a sliding scale to honor each of our own financial experiences. Check out the Green Bottle graphic below to see what level of support feels right for you.\n\nGeneral Admission = $15\nDiscounted = $10\nScholarship = $5\nChildren 15 and under = Free\n\nACCESS DESCRIPTION: Bus Stop Gallery is located in North Boulder. There are approximately 12 parking spots\, 3 of which are designated as accessible; one has a ramp access area. There is a paved\, flat sidewalk between the parking lot and gallery that is about 30 feet long. The entrance has a swinging door with no automatic opener and a gradual 1-inch grate bump. \nThere is one all-gender\, accessible\, single-occupancy restroom. The doorway has over 35 inches of clearance and includes a stability bar near the toilet. The gallery floor is flat concrete\, and no scented cleaning supplies or air fresheners are used. Lighting includes bright fluorescent and natural light. The gallery will notify participants if flashing lights are present at any event. Sound echoes in the 500-square-foot space\, and crowded openings can feel quite loud. \nThere is one emergency exit—the same as the front entrance. Additionally\, all five glass garage doors can be opened in case of emergency.

SUMMARY:Torch Song by Harvey Fierstein
DESCRIPTION:Happy Pride! Winner of The Director’s Choice Selection! In Torch Song – the two-act revival of Harvey Fierstein’s award-winning Torch Song Trilogy – the life of Arnold Beckoff\, a torch song-singing\, Jewish drag queen living in New York City\, is dramatized over the span of the late 1970s and 1980s. Torch Song follows Arnold’s odyssey to find happiness in New York. All he wants is a husband\, a child\, and a pair of bunny slippers that fit\, but a visit from his overbearing mother reminds him that he needs one thing more: respect.

SUMMARY:Older\, Wiser\, Sexually Smarter - Rediscovering Intimacy Later in Life
DESCRIPTION:Older\, Wiser\, Sexually Smarter - Rediscovering Intimacy Later in Life\nThis weekly discussion group is facilitated by a West of 50 staff member and focuses on dismantling sexual misconceptions and introducing evidence-based topics to help older adults engage in their best sex-positive-selves. Especially in the later years\, individuals can to explore the possibilities of non-penetrative sex\, or “outercourse”. \nWe cover topics such as \n\nSexual decisions later in life\nGood Sex: What Makes it So\nLooking for Love Later in Life\nSafer Sex Activities for Older Adults\nFrom Problems to Possibilities: Sexuality\, Aging\, Disability\, & Chronic Illness\nBottoming\nNipple play\nBondage & Discipline\nDominance & Submission\nSex History\nOral Sex\nAnd so much more!\n\nWhen: Every Other Tuesday\, 2:00 - 3:30 PM \nWhere: Stonewall Meeting Room at The Center on Colfax - 1301 East Colfax Ave\, Denver\, CO 80218 \nContact Information: Please contact Bryant Mehay at bmehay@lgbtqcolorado.org

SUMMARY:Free LGBTQ+ Yoga Classes
DESCRIPTION:Celebrate pride and yourself by signing up for free yoga this summer! \nThis summer\, Blake O'Connor is offering free weekly yoga classes specifically for the Denver LGBTQ+ community. These classes are designed for all levels of activity\, flexibility\, and yoga practice experience. As part of his Master's practicum\, these hour-long Ashtanga-style yoga classes (no heat or music) include physical postures (asana) and light breathwork (pranayama) to help you recover\, focus\, and feel great. All we ask is that you commit to attending one class per week for 6 weeks\, and complete three quick surveys (pre\, mid\, post) to help with the research. Classes are designed to help practitioners improve mobility\, enhance concentration\, develop their own practice\, and build community connection in a relaxed setting. \nReady to roll out your mat? Sign-up here. \nCan't make it this summer? No sweat! Sign up to be notified for a second session starting around on August 20th & 21st.
