The goal of this event is to curate a space to inspire and empower QTPOC\, and to provide them with resources to help them enter a fulfilling career or get to that next level in their current career. \nMelanated & Motivated spans two days and will include a series of professional development workshops on Friday\, November 21 and a career fair on Saturday\, November 22.  The professional development workshops are designed to be interactive sessions to help attendees develop and/or enhance specific skills related to professional/personal development. Some key areas that will be covered are creating a vision/goal setting\, career coaching\, resume building\, interviewing skills\, and dressing for success to name a few. The career fair will provide attendees with an opportunity to explore local companies\, learn about open positions\, network with professionals\, and/or perhaps have a first initial interview.

DESCRIPTION:Transgender Day of Remembrance (TDoR) is an annual observance that honors the memory of transgender and gender-diverse people whose lives were lost in acts of anti-trans violence. \nPlease join The Transgender Center of the Rockies and The Center on Colfax in observing Transgender Day of Remembrance with a heartfelt community event at The Pearl Denver. We will honor those who have lost their lives this year with music\, poetry\, affirmations\, and speaking their names aloud during a candlelit ceremony. \nAttendees are invited to contribute to our altar and name-reading ceremony with photos and names of their trans and gender-diverse loved ones who have passed away. \nAll community members and allies are welcome at the event. Participants will connect with others who understand the unique layers of LGBTQIA+ grief\, from disenfranchisement and invisibility to the strength of chosen family.  The dates for this will be September 18\, 25\, October 2\, 9\, 16\, 23\, 30\, November 6\, 13\, & 20 \nThe group is facilitated by Steven Karaiskos\, Ph.D.\, a suicide loss survivor who lost his partner\, David\, to suicide in 2009. That loss shaped his career as an educator\, grief expert\, and community builder.
