SUMMARY:Colonial Origins of Queerphobia
DESCRIPTION:Western societies market queer acceptance as a Western\, modern idea. However\, the opposite is true. Pre-colonization\, the vast majority of indigenous groups around the world held space for what we now call queer identities. This session will explore how Western Europe\, specifically the British\, exported cisheteropatriarchy\, homophobia\, and transphobia during their violent colonial conquests. Participants will learn this history while discussing the current political ramifications of transphobia\, and pinkwashing seen here and in other settler states. \nWe’ll also have snacks and time to socialize so come learn with us and make a new friend ✨ \nAttendance will be capped\, RSVP early as it will be closed once limit is reached.

SUMMARY:Older\, Wiser\, Sexually Smarter - Rediscovering Intimacy Later in Life
DESCRIPTION:Older\, Wiser\, Sexually Smarter - Rediscovering Intimacy Later in Life\nThis weekly discussion group is facilitated by a West of 50 staff member and focuses on dismantling sexual misconceptions and introducing evidence-based topics to help older adults engage in their best sex-positive-selves. The group operates based on important and fundamental concepts about sexuality and ages. Older adults can examine and possibly change the “sexual scripts” they have learned from childhood about to think and behave as sexual people. Many of these scripts are not relevant for older adults. Additionally\, sex is more than intercourse. Especially in the later years\, individuals can to explore the possibilities of non-penetrative sex\, or “outercourse”. \nWe cover topics such as \n\nSexual decisions later in life\nGood Sex: What Makes it So\nLooking for Love Later in Life\nSafer Sex Activities for Older Adults\nFrom Problems to Possibilities: Sexuality\, Aging\, Disability\, & Chronic Illness\nBottoming\nNipple play\nBondage & Discipline\nDominance & Submission\nSex History\nOral Sex\nAnd so much more!\n\nWhen: Every Other Tuesday\, 2:00 - 3:30 PM \nWhere: Stonewall Meeting Room at The Center on Colfax - 1301 East Colfax Ave\, Denver\, CO 80218 \nContact Information: Please contact Bryant Mehay at bmehay@lgbtqcolorado.org
