SUMMARY:Denver7 Electronics Recycling Drive
DESCRIPTION:Recycle your electronics at the Denver7 Electronics Recycling Drive \n\n\n\nWHAT:  \nDenver7 Electronics Recycling Drive\n\n\nWHEN: \nSaturday\, Sept. 13\, 20257:00 a.m. to noon\n\n\nWHERE:\nDICK’s Sporting Goods Park – Lot HQuebec Street Entrance at 60th\n\n\nWHO:\nDenver7 in partnership with Pedal Point RecyclingSponsored by 1-800-GOT-JUNK Denver\n\n\nCOSTS:\n$5 per car + additional fees for some items\n\n\n\nFor more information\, visit www.Denver7.com/ElectronicsRecycling. \nADDITIONAL DETAILS: \nDo you have old or broken electronics that you’re ready to get rid of? Bring them to the Denver7 Electronics Recycling Drive\, where you can safely and responsibly dispose of your unwanted electronics in a convenient drive-through format. \nBring your TVs\, computers\, DVD players\, VCRs\, cell phones\, fax machines\, boom boxes\, alarm clocks\, small appliances and more. Almost anything that plugs into the wall or uses a battery can be recycled at this event. \nCost is $5 per carload with additional fees for some items: \n\n$5 for each LCD monitor\n$20 for each LCD TV\n$40 for each CRT TV/Monitor\n$45 for each floor model printer\n$75 for each DLP/Console/Projection TV\n\nPedal Point has reduced their prices for this event\, making it one of the least expensive ways to recycle your electronics. Cash and credit cards will be accepted. \nWhile you are strongly encouraged to remove all data from your devices before bringing them to the Denver7 Electronics Recycling Drive (details on how to do that follow below)\, you can rest assured that all collected items will have the data destroyed by a three-pass data wipe and/or physical destruction of the device by Pedal Point. \nWhy should I recycle my electronics? \nBy recycling your electronics\, you’re saving energy and space in landfills\, while also preventing the environmental pollution that occurs when electronic waste is simply tossed in the trash. Plus\, the raw materials in your electronics can be repurposed by producing new devices. (It’s also illegal to throw electronics in the trash in Colorado.) \nWhy do I have to pay to get my items recycled? \nSome electronic devices contain chemicals that are dangerous to the soil\, groundwater and air. These chemicals can accumulate in our bodies if not handled properly. The processes for handling electronic devices in a way that protects the environment and workers’ health and safety is not inexpensive\, therefore Pedal Point will be charging a small fee (with additional charges for some items) to help cover their costs. \nWhat can be recycled? \nAnything that plugs into the wall or takes a battery\, with the exclusion of a few items listed below. \nWhat items cannot be recycled? \nBroken or exposed CRT TV or projection TV tubes • Alkaline or household batteries • Large household appliances •  Light bulbs • PCB (polychlorinated biphenyls) ballasts or other PCB containing material • Freon equipment including refrigerators and air conditioners • Mercury or equipment containing Mercury • Gasoline or other combustible fuel equipment • Pressurized tanks or canisters • Aerosol cans • Office furniture • Paper • Books • Cardboard •  Plastic • Glass • Tires • Fluids • Paint • Solvents • Chemicals • Smoke detectors • Carbon monoxide detectors • Thermostats • Neon signs • Radioactive equipment or materials • Un-sanitized healthcare or medical equipment • Items containing asbestos \nHow should I prepare my electronics to be recycled? \nFirst\, back up all data to your cloud\, external hard drive or a new device. Then reset the device as follows. For links and details on how to reset your device\, visit www.Denver7.com/ElectronicsRecycling.

SUMMARY:Push'n Pansies
DESCRIPTION:Push'n Pansies\nNavigating Polypharmacy in Older Adults\nDeath is not a topic that many like to discuss. But the end of the rainbow is inevitable. Push'n Pansies is a brave space for individuals to come together and discuss the end of life\, learn about resources\, and discover the strength to normalize aging and death. \n\nAt our September meeting\, join us for an eye-opening presentation on the dangers of polypharmacy in older adults. We'll start by exploring what polypharmacy means — when someone takes multiple medications simultaneously — and why it has become an increasingly common issue among seniors. \nPolypharmacy in older adults significantly increases the risk of adverse drug events\, including falls\, cognitive impairment\, and hospitalizations. Understanding this concept is the first step in recognizing potential risks\, especially as we age and face complex health needs. \nThis talk will highlight the unique concerns that come with mixing prescription drugs\, over-the-counter medications\, and supplements. Many products marketed as harmless can interact with prescribed treatments\, amplifying side effects or reducing effectiveness. We'll pay particular attention to medications commonly used in older adults and address special considerations for individuals living with HIV\, mental health conditions\, or dementia whose medication regimens can be especially complex and risky. \nEmpowerment is the key takeaway! We will share practical strategies for patients and caregivers to advocate effectively in medical settings. Learn how to start important conversations with healthcare providers\, review your medication lists for safety\, and recognize warning signs. Whether you’re a patient\, friend\, or family member\, this talk will equip you with the knowledge and tools to promote safer health routines and protect those you care about most. \nCharlotte Ricchetti\, PharmD\, BCACP is an assistant professor at the CU Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences and serves as a clinical pharmacy specialist at the Seniors Clinic at University of Colorado Hospital / CU School of Medicine. \n\nDates: Second Wednesday of Each Month \nTime: 1:00 - 2:00 PM \nLocation: The Center on Colfax - 1301 East Colfax Ave\, Denver\, CO 80218
