SUMMARY:Queer Eyes of Compassion Meditation Group
DESCRIPTION:🌈 Queer Eyes of Compassion Affinity Sangha \nThis gathering is a monthly meditation practice space for LGBTQIA+- queer\, transgender\, lesbian\, gay\, intersex\, gender non-conforming and similarly-identified siblings. Our gatherings are typically on the fourth Wednesdays of every month from 6:30-8:00 pm\, with optional tea time to follow. We are located at 2180 S University Blvd\, Denver\, CO 80210 (University Park United Methodist Church). To join our mailing list and learn about our upcoming monthly practice in the next email newsletter\, please fill out this form. \nAs an affinity group of the Eyes of Compassion Sangha\, we model our practice after the Plum Village tradition founded by Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh. We typically follow a similar format to the Eyes of Compassion and Wake Up Sangha’s including a 20 minute sitting meditation\, 10 minutes of walking meditation\, a short reading\, and a practice of group shares called deep listening/deep sharing. We will sometimes veer from this framework to include other types of meditation\, small group sharing\, or even individual reflection time if we feel it better suits the group. Our goal is that this group is accessible to folks who are new to meditation\, this kind of practice\, mindfulness\, and spiritual groups OR those who have not felt comfortable attending other such gatherings. If you have questions or concerns about what our meditation group looks like or are looking for other meditation groups\, please connect with one of our facilitators either by emailing queerEOC@gmail.com or chatting with us at the next gathering.

SUMMARY:PFLAG SOFFA Support Group
DESCRIPTION:It's often said that when a loved one transitions\, everyone around them transitions too. PFLAG Denver's SOFFA group acknowledges that sometimes those closest to a transgender\, nonbinary\, or gender nonconforming person may need assistance to better provide support. Regardless of where you are on your allyship journey\, our peer-led groups provide brave space for you to adapt and develop expanded capacities of empathy and understanding. Through each other's stories\, we gain perspective\, we hold accountability\, and we celebrate joys. We learn coping strategies that can foster personal growth and resilience so that we may better support our loved ones. The collective insights and shared strength found in SOFFA can help individuals navigate their difficulties with increased emotional support and a sense of community\, ultimately contributing to their overall well-being and healing journey. \nMonthly registration is strongly encouraged to help us maintain up-to-date utilization records and reach you if there is a last-minute change for the support group.\nYou can register HERE.

SUMMARY:Motus Theater Presents: What Love Requires in Lafayette\, CO
DESCRIPTION:Motus Theater & the Parent Engagement Network (PEN) present What Love Requires\, a new autobiographical monologue project featuring stories of parents of transgender and nonbinary adults. \nIn many ways\, the job of parents is to support our children to blossom into the unique gift they were meant to bring to the world. However\, every parent’s idea of who our children are can be limited by family or societal expectations (You’re supposed to be a doctor like your parents\, not a musician!) \nFor parents of transgender and nonbinary children\, supporting our children has particularly high stakes because of the threats our children currently face simply by living their own true gender\, and experiencing the joy we all have when we can truly be ourselves. \nThe performance shares stories of parents supporting their children to not only survive\, but thrive. The performance also celebrates the ways parents are liberated from limiting perceptions about gender in the process of truly seeing and learning from their children. \nMonologists include Beth Leyba (she/her)\, Lynn Kutner (she/her)\, Cat Lindsey (she/her)\, and Julie (she/her). Featuring music from acclaimed violinist Anthony Salvo (he/him).
