DESCRIPTION:Our document archiving group focuses on archiving LGBTQ+ history\, teaching archiving practices\, and outreach to partner organizations for archiving services. We communicate with LGBTQ+ organizations in Denver and Colorado for consultation\, archiving\, and housing of resources. Community members are welcom eto email us in advance at history@lgbtqcolorado.org\, drop off materials\, or mail materials to The Center to be archived by the Colorado LGBTQ History Project. Collections are donated to local museums\, libraries\, and archives for preservation and public research. Please be sure to contact us before donating materials to ensure the hand off and paperwork are in order. DESCRIPTION:Join the Colorado LGBTQ+ History Project for Education Saturdays. Each month\, we will offer a free public lecture on LGBTQ+ history in Colorado\, or on a broader subject following our heritage month calendar. The lecture will be followed by an educator workshop. The workshop offers a gathering place for LGBTQ+ educations provides lesson plans and other resources for teachers. Resources provided and discussed in this meeting are relevant to the general public as well as teachers. They include bibliographies\, lecture slides\, books\, notes\, and primary sources when available. \nThe lecture will run 12:00 - 1:00 PM and the education workshop will run 1:00 - 2:00 PM. This tour covers the late 19th century through Denver's "Stonewall Moment" in 1973 when the Gay Coalition of Denver (GCD) helped stop police harassment and bring about LGBTQ+ liberation in Denver. \nLearn how Capitol Hill became an LGBTQ+ neighborhood\, explore the Denver Mattachine Society - the first Denver collective against police harassment - and uncover hidden spaces for LGBTQ+ people in Capitol Hill.
