SUMMARY:PFLAG SOFFA Support Group
DESCRIPTION:It's often said that when a loved one transitions\, everyone around them transitions too. PFLAG Denver's SOFFA group acknowledges that sometimes those closest to a transgender\, nonbinary\, or gender nonconforming person may need assistance to better provide support. Regardless of where you are on your allyship journey\, our peer-led groups provide brave space for you to adapt and develop expanded capacities of empathy and understanding. Through each other's stories\, we gain perspective\, we hold accountability\, and we celebrate joys. We learn coping strategies that can foster personal growth and resilience so that we may better support our loved ones. The collective insights and shared strength found in SOFFA can help individuals navigate their difficulties with increased emotional support and a sense of community\, ultimately contributing to their overall well-being and healing journey. \nMonthly registration is strongly encouraged to help us maintain up-to-date utilization records and reach you if there is a last-minute change for the support group.\nYou can register HERE.

SUMMARY:Hope;ink Suicide Awareness Semicolon Tattoo Event
DESCRIPTION:A semicolon tattoo symbolizes hope\, resilience\, and continuation in the face of mental health challenges\, particularly suicide\, depression\, and self-harm. It represents a choice to live and keep going\, similar to the grammatical semicolon that marks a pause in a sentence rather than an end. This tattoo serves as a powerful reminder of one's inner strength and an enduring bond with a supportive community that understands and shares this journey. \nHope;ink serves as a meaningful extension of the broader worldwide initiative\, providing a local platform for individuals to "ink" their story\, unite in solidarity\, and express themselves through the semicolon symbol. For a minimum donation of $60\, attendees can choose from a selection of impactful semicolon tattoos. Donation options are available for those unable to attend or who would like to make this experience possible for another individual. All proceeds from this event will benefit Jefferson Center’s programs and services. Click here to learn more. \nHope;ink began as the Suicide Awareness Semicolon Tattoo Event (SASTE)\, hosted for several years by Dreambent Studios Tattoo in Thornton\, and benefiting various non-profit organizations. In 2023\, Dreambent chose Jefferson Center as the recipient of the proceeds\, and a friendship was born! The event was re-named Hope;ink\, and in 2024 it grew to include multiple locations across the Denver metro area. \nAt Jefferson Center\, we're dedicated to helping individuals share\, heal\, and possibly rewrite their stories through our mission and services. Attendees will have opportunities to engage by sharing their stories\, honoring lost loved ones\, or celebrating their resilience. Additionally\, there will be mental health resources and education opportunities available at every location.

SUMMARY:Denver7 Electronics Recycling Drive
DESCRIPTION:Recycle your electronics at the Denver7 Electronics Recycling Drive \n\n\n\nWHAT:  \nDenver7 Electronics Recycling Drive\n\n\nWHEN: \nSaturday\, Sept. 13\, 20257:00 a.m. to noon\n\n\nWHERE:\nDICK’s Sporting Goods Park – Lot HQuebec Street Entrance at 60th\n\n\nWHO:\nDenver7 in partnership with Pedal Point RecyclingSponsored by 1-800-GOT-JUNK Denver\n\n\nCOSTS:\n$5 per car + additional fees for some items\n\n\n\nFor more information\, visit www.Denver7.com/ElectronicsRecycling. \nADDITIONAL DETAILS: \nDo you have old or broken electronics that you’re ready to get rid of? Bring them to the Denver7 Electronics Recycling Drive\, where you can safely and responsibly dispose of your unwanted electronics in a convenient drive-through format. \nBring your TVs\, computers\, DVD players\, VCRs\, cell phones\, fax machines\, boom boxes\, alarm clocks\, small appliances and more. Almost anything that plugs into the wall or uses a battery can be recycled at this event. \nCost is $5 per carload with additional fees for some items: \n\n$5 for each LCD monitor\n$20 for each LCD TV\n$40 for each CRT TV/Monitor\n$45 for each floor model printer\n$75 for each DLP/Console/Projection TV\n\nPedal Point has reduced their prices for this event\, making it one of the least expensive ways to recycle your electronics. Cash and credit cards will be accepted. \nWhile you are strongly encouraged to remove all data from your devices before bringing them to the Denver7 Electronics Recycling Drive (details on how to do that follow below)\, you can rest assured that all collected items will have the data destroyed by a three-pass data wipe and/or physical destruction of the device by Pedal Point. \nWhy should I recycle my electronics? \nBy recycling your electronics\, you’re saving energy and space in landfills\, while also preventing the environmental pollution that occurs when electronic waste is simply tossed in the trash. Plus\, the raw materials in your electronics can be repurposed by producing new devices. (It’s also illegal to throw electronics in the trash in Colorado.) \nWhy do I have to pay to get my items recycled? \nSome electronic devices contain chemicals that are dangerous to the soil\, groundwater and air. These chemicals can accumulate in our bodies if not handled properly.
