SUMMARY:Outreach Court
DESCRIPTION:The City and County of Denver offers Outreach Court to help people experiencing housing instability gain better access to Denver County Court resources and avoid deeper involvement with the justice system. Outreach Court is designed to increase stabilization and reduce future interactions with the justice system for individuals experiencing housing instability or receiving homeless or transitional services. Outreach Court helps individuals resolve municipal level citations or warrants and provides direct\, immediate access to supportive services and resources which can include but are not limited to substance use and mental health services\, public transportation\, vital documents\, as well as providing peer support services. Immediate community service options are also available to complete court requirements. The program is a partnership between Denver County Court\, Denver City Attorney’s Office\, Office of the Municipal Public Defender\, Denver Public Library\, and many community providers. \nOutreach Court is held the following locations and schedules: \nDenver Public Library – Central Library\n 10 West 14th Avenue\, Denver\n(Please use the entrance off Acoma Plaza)\n8:30AM – 10:30AM \n\nJuly 9th\, 2025\nAugust 13th\, 2025\nSeptember 10th\, 2025\nOctober 8th\, 2025\nNovember 12th\, 2025\nDecember 10th\, 2025

DESCRIPTION:Push'n Pansies\nNavigating Polypharmacy in Older Adults\nDeath is not a topic that many like to discuss. But the end of the rainbow is inevitable. Push'n Pansies is a brave space for individuals to come together and discuss the end of life\, learn about resources\, and discover the strength to normalize aging and death. \n\nAt our September meeting\, join us for an eye-opening presentation on the dangers of polypharmacy in older adults. We'll start by exploring what polypharmacy means — when someone takes multiple medications simultaneously — and why it has become an increasingly common issue among seniors. \nPolypharmacy in older adults significantly increases the risk of adverse drug events\, including falls\, cognitive impairment\, and hospitalizations. Understanding this concept is the first step in recognizing potential risks\, especially as we age and face complex health needs. \nThis talk will highlight the unique concerns that come with mixing prescription drugs\, over-the-counter medications\, and supplements. Many products marketed as harmless can interact with prescribed treatments\, amplifying side effects or reducing effectiveness. We'll pay particular attention to medications commonly used in older adults and address special considerations for individuals living with HIV\, mental health conditions\, or dementia whose medication regimens can be especially complex and risky. \nEmpowerment is the key takeaway! We will share practical strategies for patients and caregivers to advocate effectively in medical settings. Learn how to start important conversations with healthcare providers\, review your medication lists for safety\, and recognize warning signs. As part of his Master's practicum\, these hour-long Ashtanga-style yoga classes (no heat or music) include physical postures (asana) and light breathwork (pranayama) to help you recover\, focus\, and feel great. All we ask is that you commit to attending one class per week for 6 weeks\, and complete three quick surveys (pre\, mid\, post) to help with the research.
