Description:

The Matt Kailey History Committee (MKHC) is named in honor of author, professor, mentor, and community leader Matt Kailey. Matt's great quote was:

"What I’d say to young people, specifically, is that you’re going to change the world. You’re going to change how our world views gender... it may seem difficult or impossible... you are the ones that are going to change it. And that’s why it’s so important for you to come out as who you are. Because that’s how you can change it."

We want to invite the gender non-conforming and transgender community to share their stories with our committee. Sharing our stories, those of our elders and those of our youth, weaves the tapestry of heritage, and forges identity for generations.

Storytelling builds trust, empathy, and humanity. Help us gather the spoken and written words of our community. Help us bring voice to the past for the gender non-conforming and transgender community.

Join the MKHC – learn how to do oral histories, put documents in libraries, write history, educate the public and youth, and change history by talking about it.

How to Get Involved: Contact David Duffield or Emily Ferrufino-Coquenugniot or attend one of our meetings. No RSVP is necessary to attend.
