Tea Schook is a lesbian activist who first moved to Colorado in 1975. She was a founding member of the Denver Branch of Act-Up (AIDS Coalition to Unleash Power), the co-chair of the Equal Rights Ordinance Coalition, and the first openly gay woman to run for Governor in Colorado in the early 1990's. In celebration of Women's History Month, Tea will speak about her work against Amendment 2, and how it evolved from a local ordinance to a law enacted for the whole state of Colorado. Schook will also speak about the work being done at the time to secure the civil rights of LGBTQ Coloradans, and how that work was built on the foundations left by previous generations.
